Visit our Cowes Pop-Up Shop on your Summer Holidays!

Where are you heading for the Summer Holidays?

If you're off down the South Eastern Coast of Victoria, make sure you visit Cowes!  A Little Chillies friend has recently made a sea change and moved to this pretty little coastal area.  For the holiday period, our friends at Ellani Petite will be running the Pop Up Shop: Petite Collections, full of loads of beautiful things for little people.    See Brochure below for more info.

If you didn't intend on holidaying in Cowes, head down with the family for a day trip.  Approximately an hour and half from melbourne there are plenty of activities on Philip Island.  See the iconic Penguins, go check out the seals (boat cruise required), and there is always 'A Maze'N Things' guaranteed to be a hit with the kids.

Little Chillies Summer Holiday Break

Little Chillies are heading further down the East coast and going bush!  Please don't be disappointed if we don't answer any queries between Christmas Day and New Years Day, as we are off duty!  No internet, no phones: just a tent, ants, sand flies, mozzi's, sand in our toes, the sound of waves and good company :-)

We will return to civilisation, refreshed and ready to go, in the first week of the New Year.

Happy Holidays!

Sunday Fun!

Great bike riding for the whole family!

Beautiful Sunday weather calls for a family outing and team Little Chillies loves bike riding :-)  There are some fantastic bike paths around Melbourne, and one local to us in the East is Gardiners Creek bike trail.  If your littlies are too little to ride bikes, we highly recommend the double seater Croozer.  The Croozer is not only a trailer, it quickly converts to a pram or jogger.  As a parent, you will appreciate the volume of storage space you have in the rear!  Only downside is the challenge of fitting it through standard doorways.

Markham Reserve gets 5 STARS!

Along Gardiners Creek bike trail, you must stop at one of the best outdoor playgrounds in Melbourne: along Victory Boulevard, Markham Reserve.  The kids will absolutely love it.  We give this playground 5 stars ;-)  It has everything; modern play ground that is fenced off, shade areas, picnic areas and toilets.  You may have a challenge attempting to lure your children away from this playground, but we highly recommend taking the little tykes there.

The Resident Café gets the THUMBS UP!

After completing the stretch between Markham Reserve and High Street Ashburton, we suggest stopping for breaky, brunch or lunch.

There are a few cafés now along High Street Ashburton, but we love it when a new one pops up that is GREAT!  Located right on the bike path, 'The Resident Cafe' has now only been open for 6 weeks. It's not well sign posted, but please don't miss this one.  Their service is fantastic, particularly with the kids.  Importantly, they had great coffee and food, and a gorgeous courtyard out the back with couch-like cushioned benches and umbrellas.  It's very pleasant!    Oh, and let's not forget to mention the toilets, they are lovely.  Yes, I love when a café puts effort into the presentation of the bathroom: Aésop and all :-)

Home again, home again, jiggity jig!

Once re-fueled with great food, pull out the balance bike for the ride home (Our Little Chillies have a Likeabike Jumper).  They are great for learning exactly that, balance!  Once a child has mastered the art of balance, you can introduce pedals, in theory, completely by-passing training wheels!  Posing on her bike, Mademoiselle Amélie has almost mastered the art of balance.

I hope you enjoyed your Sunday :-)

What to wear to the Beach this Summer....

Little Chillies Beautiful Kaftans!

Here at Little Chillies head quarters we have been looking at the national weather forecast for the next couple of days, and with the strange exception of Perth, it's going to be HOT Australia!  Particularly, if you're in Melbourne.   Make sure your girls are wearing our best selling Kaftan's over those bathers when you head off to the Beach.  Our kaftans have been a popular choice to wear as a dress, to layer up over leggings or shorts depending on the weather, and as an easy slip over the bathers.   They have also been a favourite choice by the mums given their great shoulder coverage.

Our 100% linen Poppy Kaftans in Red and Lemon (worn by Annabelle and Olive above) are doing equally well in both colours.  Little Chillies pick is the Lemon :-)  Pictured with our organic cotton leggings.

Lace bordered Kaftan in Navy is the next most popular Kaftans this summer.  White lace Kaftan, not far behind!  Worn by Amélie above, also pictured with our organic grey melange leggings.

For those who like something a little prettier the Magnolia Organic Cotton Kaftan is an alternative.  Being a sheer organic cotton voile, it goes great over our organic cotton jersey dress.  Amélie (left) pictured wearing the grey print Kaftan over organic grey melange dress, Olive is pictured wearing the red print Kaftan over the organic white jersey dress

See you at the Beach :-)
