Come see us at Mathilda's Market....

We’re so excited! This Sunday (14 March) we will be showcasing our wares at Mathilda's Market. This is a fabulous niche market that offers unique, stylish and affordable baby & kids goods that are lovingly handmade or of limited production. The retailers are hand pick to ensure an exciting product range. It's a kid's shopping heaven. Better yet, most of the retailers do not have a shop front, so you know you'll find something special, not available anywhere else. Please come and see our stand at Mathilda’s Market from 9am to 1pm at the Hawthorn Town Hall, 360 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn. Entry and parking are free. With almost 80 retailers, yummy food, kids entertainment Mathilda’s Market is one of Melbourne’s best shopping destinations for the little ones. For a sneak preview, have a look at the website http://mathildasmarket.com.au.

We have a few extra goodies at our table tomorrow, some soft toys up for grabs and hair clips that match the African Safari shoes.

We hope to see you tomorrow.....

Jo & Liz.

Softies!

Well, we decided to make some cute softies (Melly and Me patterns) to pretty up our table at the up and coming Mathilda's Market next weekend. Of course, they match our outfits! It would make a prefect gift.... a softy, pair of shoes and a dress, wouldn't it? Making Melly and Me softies has inspired us to draft up our own Little Chillies patterns - so with our next range of clothing, we will have matching toys. We may even get some made up with the current range.

If you come along and visit us at Mathilda's Market next Sunday at Hawthorn Town Hall, you will see these adorable toys.........

YES size matters ;-) This Giraffe stands at approx 45cm tall - almost 50cm to tip of horn. This Giraffe matches our Little Poppet Range - Mustard.

This Giraffe also stands at approx 45cm tall - almost 50cm to tip of horn. He matches our Scooter Range.
This little cuttie is approx 25cm high and long. He matches the girls Little Poppet Range - Blue.

We look forward to seeing some of you next Sunday 14th March between 9am and 1pm at Mathilda's Market - Hawthorn Town Hall.

Cheerio,
Jo & Liz.

Sister's Market

We finally made it to the markets! Our first one was the previous Saturday at Sister's Market in Brunswick. So lots of thanks to some friends, Katie and Bec, for helping us cut...cut....cut..... and my MIL Anne, for some button covering and hand sewing! Mum (Liz) and I sewed and sewed until the wee hours of the night to get our stock up for the market. Which in hindsight wasn't the brightest idea, as my immune system is now crushed, a lingering virus has taken over and 'Hello' chest infection.... Ugh. :-( Even the hubby was handy, building us all our gear for the markets (clothes racks, table, etc). What a champ.

Thanks to those who came to the market to visit us and see us in the flesh. It makes a difference being able to feel and see the fabrics. The Little Poppet Apron Dress seemed to be the most popular garment for the day and the African Safari shoes were also a winner.

Here's some pictures of us at Sister's Market.

We hope to see more of you at the next market - Mathilda's Market, Sunday 14th March, Hawthorn Town Hall.

Cheerio,
Jo.

Boys Range Up and Running

Thanks to our stylist/photographer (Rod) and our models Charlie and Will, the boys range has been photographed! We are now just waiting on the gallery pictures to be uploaded onto the website. But in the mean time, the gallery pictures can be viewed on our facebook page, become a fan while you're there!

All the boys clothes, shoes and accessories have been listed on our website shop and can be viewed in more detail there. My favourite gallery shots of the day......

Chubby Charlie modelling our Scooter range! He has the most precious rolls ever!

Our African Safari Shoes are bright and fun and made using a gorgeous Japanese linen fabric.

My favourite outfit, French General range. A gorgeous linen/cotton blend red stripe fabric.

Behind the scenes from the day....

Charlie playing clap hands with his dad (Robby) across the room, with mum (Bec) keeping him on the set, while I blab on about something probably very unimportant and Rod fiddles with the camera!

Last Post for 2009 - Boys Shoe Collection.

As much as we love sewing and designing infant clothes, we are looking forward to putting away the sewing machines for a couple of weeks and by this time tomorrow - mmmmm QLD :-)

Before we head off, here is a preview of the boys collection of shoes: most of them are unisex and could be warn by either a girl or boy......

Skater boy range (above) comes in washed red and oyster, and also in oyster with beige. They have an easy to use velcro strap and are made using a cotton linen blend fabric.

The Scooter shoe above comes with either an easy to use Velcro strap or shoe laces. It's blue/grey striped cotton fabric adds a splash of colour to the oyster cotton/linen blend fabric trimming.

French General is a sand shoe using the most gorgeous red striped cotton/linen blend fabric (yes, it's my favourite fabric!). It's then trimmed with micro fibre around the toe and shoe lace eyelets.

Above is our African Safari shoe range. Lots of cute little animals printed on linen fabric. The Red/Grey and Purple/Green shoes (elephants, hippos and zebra) come with either straps or in a loafer style, while the Yellow/Grey shoes (lions and giraffe) come in the loafer.

Merry Christmas and we will be back with more in the new year........

Closing over xmas & looking forward to 2010........

Little Chillies is going on holidays! Woo Hoo! We will be closed down between 18th December and return on the 4th January 2010. Any orders just prior to this date may not be completed until we return to business.

It's been a busy couple of months leading up to xmas and a good start to our new business venture. We are planning on a big 2010 starting with the Markets. We kick off the year with Sisters Market at Brunswick town Hall, in February and will also be present during April 2010, then in St Kilda in December 2010. We will also be present at Magnolia Square and will be applying for Mathilda's market not only in Melbourne, but in Sydney and Brisbane. More details to come.

We are currently finishing up our wholesale order for Angelfish Dragonfly, an online boutique supporting Australian made and designed baby and children clothing/products. Located up in North QLD, if you're a local you may even get to see Angelfish Dragonfly displaying some of their products at the Townsville Strand Night Market on Friday 4th December. If not, check out the boutique online:

Good work Liz for sewing until you drop (literally) to get through our recent orders. Serious consideration to full time sewing for Little Chillies in 2010................. :-)

A sample taste of the boys fabrics and collection.......

We are busily working on wholesale orders from the girls collection at present (exciting stuff!), so the boys collection is ever so slowly getting there. Something tells me we may have to employ an extra seamstress! Anyone know someone?! ;-)

Our boy's fabric bolts have finally arrived and we are putting together a sample run before we have our photo shoot complete and are ready for sale. I was completely obsessed with a designer of French influenced fabrics and have been waiting patiently for months until they were finally released at the end of October. The following are some sample fabrics from our boys collection. With the exception of our blue strips, our colour palette is of earthy tones and French influence, and include a mix of cottons, and light weight cotton/linen blends.

The following fabric is by far my favourite! Only a glimpse is aloud at these boys overalls and little sneakers, made using a light cotton and linen blend fabric. These newborn shoes are missing their eyelets and laces, but it gives you an idea of the style we are making.........

Very soon, we will have boys products for viewing on the website gallery. I can't wait. Hopefully they will get a similar response to the girls range!?

Until next time,
Au revoir.
